We had my wife’s CX-5 detailed and picked it up yesterday. Nearing four years of ownership and 38,000 miles. The paint is a gnarly mess under where the edge guards were, but the detail guy buffed it a bit and got the harshest parts to look halfway presentable. Now, I have to touch up the parts where the paint was worn down.
Never thought those edge guard things could do that much damage, but they certainly did.
There’s also a wide variety of dings and scratches around the entire vehicle. My wife used to work at a call center here and women would walk between vehicles and casually sling their purses against doors, fenders, etc. And then you have the standard door dings and such that come from just owning a vehicle and parking in parking lots.
I think it still looks decent in these iPhone shots, though.

My wife wants a black CX-5. I swore off black cars years ago because they’re just so hard to keep clean and looking scratch free. I just know I’m going to lose that battle. I did show her the pics of yours and the blue is a close second on her wants for the rig.

I told my wife we (when I worked at a Mazda dealer) had a blue one and a red one. She got excited and said “BLUE!” so I brought home the color you see above.
She meant THIS blue:
And she reminds me often.

Like it? Yes.
Problems? The transmission control module needed a software update and caused a few harsh shifts and trouble codes a month or so ago at 36,500 or so miles. The dealer performed the update, which took about an hour. No more problems since. Otherwise, no problems throughout the entire four years we have had it.
Would buy again? Yes. Just one with more options. The only options this one has are the roof rails and the Bluetooth radio.

Ah yes. A number of years ago I overheard my wife say she wanted a pink Kitchen Aid mixer. For a birthday I thought I totally knocked it out of the park. So I bought the top one.
WRONG! Now every time it comes out I get a sideways glance...

We would option ours pretty spare, but I haven’t seen their pricing list. Leathette seats and bluetooth radio (and roof rails) would be pretty much all we need.

Yeah I am replacing my JSW with one of these. Drove the updated 2016.5 and a 2014 the differences aren’t huge. The only issue is mazda doesn’t do fake leather, it’s cloth or leather on the top trim. For that reason I may go cpo and pick up an off lease grand touring for less than a new touring.

I like that blue but only comes with the black interior which is a big nope.

I’d rather have a black interior than our beige that the wife and kids keep spilling crap all over.

It comes with a decent amount of standard equipment. I just wish ours had the Blind Spot Monitoring system. But, a $2.99 set of blind spot mirrors from the automotive aisle at Target solved that problem.

The plastic surrounding the wheel wells look horrendous with that color. You made the right decision.

How’s the room? We have twins + a dog, would like to be able to fit them all comfortably, especially to road trip. (Though honestly, we’re replacing a 2005 Civic, so anything will be a step in the right direction.)

My jetta is has a black interior and it gets too damn hot. I am hoping the lighter leather does the job with seat protectors and me keeping up with it.

Plenty of rear seat room. A lot more than you’d expect in a vehicle this size. For what it’s worth, we test fitted an infant car seat the other day and still had a decent amount of room in the passenger seat in front of it.

I know that I did.
Plus the red one had that nasty torque converter recall.

That’s great to hear! Mine are nearing 5, and let me tell you that the transition to forward-facers is like the heavens shining down upon you if you have a small car.

Our baby is due in February. Thankfully, both cars (my 6 and her CX-5) can handle the infant seat. The seat in front of the infant seat has to be moved forward a bit, but not much.
